Mary Helen Hunton

Hey there! My name is Mary Helen Hunton, I’m 27, and I’m originally from Columbia, but have lived in Greenwood since 2017 and grew up coming here to visit my grandparents. I’ve worked with Alexandria at C3 for the last 8 years in many capacities- everything from teaching horseback riding lessons to training dogs!

I grew up riding horses mostly in the English world doing hunter jumpers throughout middle, high school, and college. Alexandria has given me a good bit of my western riding experience, and in training horses and dogs. I’ve worked at many different farms in the midlands and upstate as well as a ranch in Utah last summer! It is very fulfilling to be able to learn new skills and take them with me everywhere I go!

I have a degree in Early Childhood Education from Lander and I taught 1st grade for 3 years, but I have found farm life to be my true passion. Each day is different on the farm and working with animals is extremely rewarding. I’m so thankful for all the opportunities I continue to have at C3 Kennels.

I’m very lucky to have my two sidekicks come to work with me every day! Smokey and Bear are my Australian Shepherds and they are both 3 years old. Most people think they are brothers from the same litter but they are actually about 6 months apart and came from completely different people and parts of the state! If you need to tell them apart, Smokey has no tail and more white on his chest, Bear has a big fluffy tail and very little white. They both have huge personalities and I’m so thankful they get to tag along with me while I do chores and they love to play with all the boarding and training dogs too! Alexandria has helped me with their training as they’ve grown up and it truly has made such a huge difference to be able to trust them and know they are staying safe. I wouldn’t be able to let them come with me without having the solid commands and behaviors that she has helped me put in place.

A couple of my favorite things about my job at C3 are meeting new client dogs and seeing our regulars so excited to return every time! I look forward to meeting you and your four-legged family members!
