What is a typical day like at the kennels?

Morning comes early at the farm which means we start our day at 7 am and doesn't end till after 7pm! The first thing we do is let all of the dogs out to have a bathroom break and play time. With two separate pens we are able to turn out up to 8 dogs at once and will hand-walk anyone who likes their own space so they don't have to wait! While most dogs are out playing, we feed breakfast, rinse & refill waters, and prep for the day. With the owner living on-site and staff nearby, dogs enjoy play time throughout the day at various intervals. Midday is designed for extra-long play time to get lots of playtime with friends. Training sessions and add-ons happen at various times throughout the day based on weather and the day's schedule. In the evening, everyone gets a final turnout and supper before it's lights out. While dogs are turned out to play 3 times at minimum throughout the day, we also turnout any time we are around the farm. Many days dogs spend the majority of the day turned out in small, safe groups!

How will I know how my dog is doing? What happens if there is an emergency?

Owners will always receive a daily update via picture or video. While most updates will happen at midday turnout, add-ons, weekends, and holidays may affect the time of day that updates are sent. If you haven't heard from us, don't panic! Chances are, we are doing farm runs, training sessions, and having fun with your pup but we will get you an update by evening of each day!

In the event of emergency, the owner/emergency contact will always be contacted immediately. Owners will also be contacted in the event of a non-emergent injury or incident. 

I arrived for my drop off/pick up time, but I don't see anyone. Should I call?

When you and your dog arrive at the kennels, a staff member will greet you. If you don't see someone right away, give us just a few minutes and we'll be right to you. If you don't see someone within a few minutes, feel free to give us a call! The staff on duty for the day will be listed on the front door of the kennel feed room and will be happy to answer to your call! 

Unlike a typical board-only facility, we may not be at the kennels at all times throughout the day. C3 Kennels is a real-life working farm with a second property just a quarter of a mile away. This means we raise cattle, take dogs on farm runs, give dogs their All For Me time, work our stock dogs, and keep the horses fed and worked too! However, our unique, small, set up means that we are able to spend more individual time with our boarding and training dogs, and allow bookings during limited hours on weekends and major holidays at no extra charge.

I am interested in the treat add-on, but who are they made by? 

Anchored Paws is a pet project of one our assistant trainers Jane Allison. Each batch of treats is made fresh right here on Callison Hwy! The wobble treat puzzle gives your pup a chance to enjoy a tasty and nutritious treat and have lots of fun. Treats are available for purchase. What is a Farm Run?

We are located on 112 acres and we enjoy sharing our beautiful property with the dogs during their stay.. We have 5 large fenced in pastures where we rotate our cattle. This means we take advantage of the resting fields to let dogs live their best life and run until they are content! We are able to use an ATV or walk/run alongside them on foot for a slower paced farm run with lots of chances to sniff and explore! 

With sunsets, flowers to sniff, trees to rest under, streams to visit, and woods to explore, every farm run is a different adventure that is new and exciting! We love to send videos of your dog having the best experience that many dogs never get the chance to experience!

What is All For Me? 

All For Me is a chance for your pup to do whatever they like most! Whether your pup wants an individual game of fetch/frisbee, to lay in someone's lap and be loved on, or have a water fun day, we have them covered! All For Me is also a great add on for rainy days when farm runs are not possible and dogs don't get to enjoy as much time outside! Just let us know what they enjoy and we will do it!

How do I know which training option is the right fit?

The first step to determine the best option for training is to schedule an initial evaluation. This is set up as a lesson with you and your dog.  

When you call for a training assessment, each dog will be considered as an individual and you will be given the best recommendation for your needs. We never recommend board & train just to fill kennels, as we believe effective results can be achieved with lessons in the home also. 

What do you mean when you say that training is an investment?

Training is an investment of both time, money and energy. We like to look at its value by asking a simple question: what really costs more? Training...or the vet bill from your dog running into the road, the clothes ruined from muddy paws caused by excessive jumping, or years of frustration/missed opportunities to enjoy your pup because you and your dog didn’t know how to communicate? 

Training bridges the gap in communication between dog and handler.  You truly learn how to handle the most basic need your dog has- how to communicate. Dogs may not speak our language, but they’re excellent communicators once they learn how to learn- and once you do too!
